People with Covid-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported - ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Common signs and symptoms can include fever,dry cough and tiredness. Early symptoms of Covid-19 may include a loss of taste or smell. Other symptoms can include shortness of breath, muscle arches, sore throat, headache etc. The virus causing the disease spreads mainly through the air when people are near each other. It leaves an infected person as they breathe, cough, sneeze or speak and enters another person their mouth, nose or eyes. It might also spread via contaminated surfaces, people reamin infectious for upto two weeks and can spread virus even if they do not have symptoms. We can prevent Covid-19 by social distancing, wearing a face mask in public, ventilation and air-filtering, hand washing, covering one's mouth when sneezing or coughing, disinfecting surfaces, and monitoring and self-isolation for people exposed or symptoms.
